Festival Chapín 2024
Celebrating Guatemalan Culture in Oklahoma City
A Look Back at Festival Chapín 2024
This year, Festival Chapín brought Guatemalan culture to life in Oklahoma City with a vibrant celebration of music, food, and community. As one of the event organizers and creative directors, I had the honor of helping to bring this incredible cultural experience to the heart of OKC. From the design work to creative direction and the festival's overall execution, being part of such a meaningful celebration of Guatemalan heritage was both a professional and personal highlight.
Bringing the Festival to Life
In my role, I had the opportunity to design visual elements and contribute to the creative direction that made the festival visually engaging and culturally authentic. From branding materials to the layout of the event, it was essential to ensure that every aspect of Festival Chapín reflected the beauty and vibrancy of Guatemalan culture.
Working closely with the organizing team, I helped to curate an atmosphere where attendees could fully experience the richness of Guatemala’s traditions—from the lively performances to the delicious food and intricate artisan crafts. The festival wasn’t just about entertainment; it was about fostering a space where people of all backgrounds could connect and appreciate the depth of Guatemalan culture.
Relive the Festival
For those who couldn’t attend, or if you want to relive the energy of the event, I’ve included two videos that beautifully capture the essence of Festival Chapín:
The first video offers an overview of the festival, showcasing the vibrant performances, food, and community spirit that made the event unforgettable.
The second video, produced by OETA, provides deeper insight into the festival, exploring its cultural significance and the history behind Guatemala’s unique traditions.
Why Festival Chapín Matters
As someone with Guatemalan heritage, being part of this festival was an opportunity to share my culture with the broader Oklahoma City community. I’m passionate about empowering creatives and supporting local cultural events that help bridge communities and celebrate diversity. Festival Chapín is more than just a one-day event—it’s a reflection of unity, pride, and cultural appreciation.
